ps2 vs ps1 controller

Hiya all. I recently got a good deal on a Slim ps2. Unfortunately the controller it came with was missing one analog, had two sticky keys, and disturbingly lookde like it had been chewed on.. in short it sucks. I've been using my old ps1 controller on it, and it's great. Is there a point to upgrading to a new ps2 controller. I mean, did they drastically improve the quality or something, 'cause I'm pretty happy with my ps1..ps2 vs ps1 controller

I hear PS1 controllers have a slower response when used on the PS2. I think getting a dual shock 2 would be good, or at least a compatible third party replica.
Get the Logitech PS2 Cordless Precision controller. Greatest controller I ever used. Only beaten by the Logitech Xbox Cordless controller because it is a little bigger and I have big hands and don't like to cramp. PS2 controllers are also pressure sensitive so PS2 games like Metal Gear Solid 2 %26 3 won't play right with a PS1 controller.
