Shining Force!

I love this game. It was the first game I had ever lost sleep over.I wish they would make a proper sequel to the originals =/Shining Force!
Yeh it would be nice to see the series revived...(ANY RPGs would be good right now) but yeh Shining Force lately I keep thinking back to it, I may have to play it again sometime soon. Shining Force!
There was Shining Force III which was three disc long. However, Camelot (formerly Sonic Software Planning) came at a fallout with SEGA when they realised that Scenarios II %26 III weren't going to be released overseas due to SEGA's dropping support of the Saturn in favour of the Dreamcast. In recent interviews though, Camelot has stated they wouldn't mind working on the Shining series again. But it's anyone's guess if that's gonna happen.

Yeah I bought that Sonic's Ultimate Genesis Collection mainly just to play the first and second and the Phantasy Star series. Geez it does seem like we're having an rpg dry spell :(

Oh that would be great if they did!! As long as it wasn't like the PS2 installments.... ughhh..
Yes, that would be absolutely wonderful. I don't know how good the chances for that happening are, though. I think that Shining Force (and its genre) have become more of a niche product than they already were back in the day. Maybe my choice of platform negatively influenced that view, however... Spectral Force 3 is one of the only games that come to mind at the moment.

I haven't played any of those, but I bought Valkyria Chronicles the other day because I had heard alot of good things about it. I might buy Eternal Sonata too. Is Disgaea 3 really good? Haven't heard much about it really.
Valkyria Chronicles was a good game. I wish it had multiplayer though.
The original Shining Force is tight but it's definitely not Fire Emblem.
The original Shining Force is tight but it's definitely not Fire Emblem.
Yeah Fire Emblem is good tooo. But I really kind of enjoyed Shining force more. i don't know if it was just because of nostalgia or what.I just thought that game was amazing
I'm a long time fan of Fire Emblem and I love it, but yeh Shining Force there is a strange feeling you get when you play it, its not nostalgia because it was the same feeling when I first played it. Its just a feeling of enjoying a part of the game...I can't really explain it...its not the best game or anything but its worth the play, it does give you a sense of enjoyment and you feel that you have to complete it...and strangely when I completed it I felt like completing it again for a second time...even though nothing really changes.

It would be nice if someone restored that title to a decent standard on DS, if they did it right it would just as good as some of the best RPG titles out on DS and a lot better in some cases.
Well I played both on GBA so without nostalgia in the mix I gotta say that Shining Force shows more age than Fire Emblem. The graphics aren't quite as good, the characters aren't developed as well there's less secrets and bonuses, it's shorter, it's easier, and the perma-death thing in Fire Emblem is a fantastic aspect. I'm by no means putting Shining Force down though. I was extremely satisfied when I beat it and thought it was well worth the 8 dollars I payed for it. Fire Emblem became one of my all time favorite games and I have beaten it at least twice a year since it came out.
