Of all the legacy characters, which character has appeared (doesn't have to had starred in) in the most games?Which character has appeared in retro games the most?

Sonic the hedgehog.
I'm going to have to say Mario but thinking about it Mega Man has had a fair share of games himself.
I'd think Mario. Megaman has been in a ton of games too, but I don't believe he's been in as many as Mario.

It would have to be Mario IMO. He's been appearing in games for nearly 30 years now.



Just did a search online and the interweb is saying Mario has appeared in between 150 and 200 games.
Mario by a mile. There's been so many games where even if he wasn't a playable character, he was still in it, like being the referee in punchount or the line judge in Tennis.

Checking over the list of past games characters have appeared in, I believe Mario hasonic appeared in about 175 games (legacy system wise), then Sonic at prolly around 70 games (legacy wise), then Mega Man.
Definitely Mario. He's been in countless numbers of games, movies, tv shows, etc.
I would imagine Mario would be at the top of the list.
