Whats Wrong With My SNES Carts??

I was helpin my mate move houses just recently and we found a few SNES carts. When i asked how much he wanted for them, he said I could just have them. I took them home and put them in my console and tried to play them but it just went to a black screen with the occasional flicker of colour. It's not my console because I tried a game that knew worked and that 1 was alright. So what could be wrong with the. Could they just need a clean (and what would be the best way to do this?) or are they never gonna work again.PS I dunno if this makes any difference but they're PAL cartsWhats Wrong With My SNES Carts??
Just try a Q-Tip and some rubbing alcohol on the contacts, that should get the games working in no time. Keep on rubbing until the q tip comes out clean.Whats Wrong With My SNES Carts??
Thanks mate. Will try that. :D
Yeah, it sounds like it just needs cleaning. Most carts need cleaning sometimes if they haven't been used in a long, long time. I recommend always to clean a cart before you play the game for first time.
Tryed to clean my cart several times with a q-tip and alcool and it's still halway starting.I get the intro screen but I can't get to the starting screen,it gets black but it still have sound(it's Secret Of Evermore),anything else I could try to save it?
Maybe the system itself needs cleaning. You would be amazed at how dirty it can get down there.

Wouldn't I have problems with my other games also?
They;re dirty. Dip a qtip is rubbing alcohol, and gently whipe off the contacts. Then let the games dry thoroughly beofre you put them back in.

It certainly can't hurt to clean the console's connectors, especially since the console has been around for a long time. Though I would try cleaning the game again first. Does any dirt show from the game's connector when you try to clean it?
