Can someone help me with my PS2?

Okay, can someone give me some help with this problem?Most of my Ps2 games won't work too well, but, I got a disc fixer. It fixed my Final Fantays X, which worked like new, for awhile. After some time, I had to buff it before I could play it again. Then it works. But, the machine won't fix any other discs.Anyway, the other problem, is a doozy. Y'know when you start up the game, and there are a buncch of blocks floating around the screen, to represent your memory? Well, on mine, when it opens, there is one off to the side, and the big clear one. That's it. But, when I go to my memory card, all my memories there!So, can someone please help me? So your problem is that the blocks wont show your memory blocks? and it's there? Can someone help me with my PS2?
Pretty much. Don't forget about the discs!
Oh, yeah, and I forgot to mention, my PS2 is about 8 years old, and the disc repair I have is The motorized Disc Repair with Adapter, and is a chemical free motorized system.So, yeah. Any help? Is it my discs, or my game system?
first you need to isolate your problem. For your disc problem, when you put in a game what does it do? Go into the browser and select the game - does it give you a disc read error? If your games aren't scratched and you get this message thenit's probably adirty/failing laser. You can take the PS2 apart but I'm not sure if you would be comfortable with that.Once you fix that problem and can load games successfully then you can try and tackle the memory situation. Try loading a game save if it loads then you're fine, don't worry about what that Sony memory block boot up thing. It doesn't sound like you have a problem since you can see the saves using the browser.
Thanks. So, about my PS2, do you think I should get a new one? I mean, FFX works like a diamond most of the time, sometimes I have to buff it a couple of times before playing, though. but the other ones, I have put through it multiple times, and none of them work.

as the system gets old, you gonna see signs of wear and tear on it. it happen to me along time ago with my ps1. some games work and some doesnt. the guy who fixed it said that they have to adjust the lens again so it can read the disc.



also when you hear noise when it reads your games, thats alos a sign of your system aging. try having it fixed, but if its expensive, just buy a new one. 8 years is pretty decent life for a console.



is this a ps2 fat or slim model???
It's the fat model, I never bought I slim.
Oh yeah, and I took it to a friend who used to fix things. He said that it probably had about one year to go on it. That was three years ago. Probably about time to get a new one, huh?

just get a new slim one. save you the trouble and hassle. its more reliable too than the fat one. i hear people have some problems on the fat one when they play rogue galaxy...but im not sure k.



i think the slim ps2 - used is really cheap... if your tight on money, just get a used slim, otherwise get a new one. check ebay. ALOT of good deals. or amazon (brand new) - no tax lol.

Oh, and you probably don't want to resurface your games unless you really have to. Those things sand the disc so if you do it too many times it will eventually ruin the disc. The best way to tell if it's a disc problem is if you always encounter a problem at a specific point in the game (usually the game will freeze or you'll start hearing the PS2 make load noises as it tries to adjust itself to read the problem area). If the game doesn't boot up at all, takes a long time to boot up, or the clicking noises start at bootup then it's usually because of a dirty/failing laser.
I have another question, though. Why does my Final Fantasy X work, when the others don't? I mean, some of them are in waaaay better condition than it. Anyway, how can I be sure that my systems the problem, and not the game? Thanks.
