Fave console/Best Console and Explain!

Just wondering what everyone's favorite console and best console are, and if you can differentiate. Me, i'm a fan of shooters in the classic sense, i.e. shmups and third person shooters. I'm a HUGE fan of fighters. I also like adventure games/beat-em-ups and sports games. Those are my favorite genres. For that reason, the dreamcast is my all time favorite console. It has awesome fighters, shmups(under defeat and border down are G-R-E-A-T), beat-em-ups, and sports games.

Not to mention the homebrew community which makes it my classic console player as well.

Now, I think best console ever is more objective. For me, I'd have to go with the PS1. It helped make gaming more mainstream with the party games and the like. It has tons of great games(and tons of junk). It has copious amounts of games for every genre, and it penetrated the casual and adult gamer market. Understand, I think the PS2 has more great games, but I don't think it can be considered the best because the PSX has such a greater impact. What are your thoughts?Fave console/Best Console and Explain!
My favorite console by far is the original Nintendo. Why? It had the best games in my opinion. Off the top of my head these are all games I loved when I was a kid and would play again in a heartbeat:Gunsmoke, Blaster Master, Strider, Defenders of the Crown, Guardian Legend, Kid Icarus, Ikari Warriors, Super Mario Bros. 2, Super Mario Bros. 3, Rad Racer, The Legend of Zelda, The Legend of Zelda II: Link's Awakening, Dragon Warrior, Final Fantasy, Ninja Gaiden, Baseball Stars. And that was without me really digging into the old memory banks. As for best...hmmm...I would most likely say the Nintendo 64 but I am a huge Nintendo fan boy and am admittedly biased. It introduced a few things to home console gaming (if I remember correctly) such as the analog stick and free roaming 3D gaming via Mario 64.Fave console/Best Console and Explain!
My favorite is the snes.It is the one that I have the best memories playing.Games like chrono trigger, secret of mana, super metroid, castelvania 4,f zero,FF3,and countless others make it a great system. The worst system would be the virutal boy or the 32x.lol
the sega saturn, purely for the arcade ports, and good memories of playing it with my neighbour.
PlayStation 2 has the largest library of good games, thus it is the best. If my favorite and what I believe is the best do not coincide, then I must be delusional.
the dreamcast, simply for its arcade perfect fighting games (MVC2, Alpha 3, 3rd Strike etc)
I really can't choose my personal favorite. I really like the DS, GBA, SNES, N64, and Dreamcast about equally to one another. Best games of their respected gens.
Dreamcast, check one of my blogs.
SNES, because it had an amazing game library.

Everything else was borrowed, rented, or hand me downs I had already played at others houses. Plus the games on N64 are still my favorites, OoT of course, Majoras Mask, Perfect Dark, Goldeneye, Banjo Kazooe-Tooie, DK64, Mario 64, Mario Kart, KI Gold, Starfox 64, Rogue Squadron, The first 3 Mario Partys, Blast Corps, Pod Racer, Rush 2049, Cruisen USA, Turok 1-2, and a slew of others, I still have fun with them today and I avoided all the dreaded games of that gen, (Super Man).
The Wii because it can play almost all of my favourite games of all time. All it is missing is Yoshi's Island (which is probably my favourite platformer of all time), Earthbound, Rayman 2, and the Dragon Quest series. However, it can play every Mario ever made, every Zelda ever made, every Smash Bros ever made, both pikmin games, every Punch-Out ever made, Beyond Good and Evil, etc.If that is cheating, then I will choose the SNES because of Super Mario World, Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island, A Link to the Past, Super Punch-Out!!, Earthbound, etc

I played it on Dreamcast which was the best version imo, and I just couldn't bring myself to get up sometimes. It had a good sense of progression which makes games great imo (Half Life was the same way for me. I always could tell I was progressing, so I didn't want to stop). It's just sad that this game was obviously underrated as Ubisoft decided to not make a 3rd one :( The jump from side scroller to 3D was definitely welcome imo as the first Rayman was really hard, and annoying.I really just loved the voices of the characters! :D Just like in Banjo Kazooie they just substituted noises for voices, and that just made stuff hilarious imo.

It was called Hoodlum Havoc and it wasn't very good probably because Michel Ancel (the creator) wasn't involved.

It was just so bad that nobody talked about it :PI need to get a Dreamcast and Rayman 2 as soon as possible though. Used to have one, but it's gone now!!! :( And Rayman 2 as well!
I would have to go with the nintendo 64, in my opinion it was one of the best consoles out for its generation and we also saw some amazing games for it as well. I played the hell out of my n64 and its one of my biggest collections so far (with up to about 30 games) my all time faves for this system are paper mario, jet force gemini, super mario 64, LOZ ocarina of time, majoras mask, goldeneye 007, perfect dark, starfox 64, banjo-kazooie, RE2, and donkey kong 64. best part about is I still have my n64 plus all games I had back then

i stand corrected..sorry bout that.
Sega Mega drive (genesis) - I was born when my dad had it, played all the sonic games on it and many others (Streets of rage, Golden Axe, Kid Carmeleon, Chakan) and after 20 years of use it still works perfectly.
PS1, mainly because it has a lot of my favourite games on it , like Final Fantasy 7-9, Grandia, MGS,there were also alot of games I really liked like Abe's Odyssey, Spiderman 1-2, Tekken 3, Worms World Party, Resident Evil 3,and all the Final Fantasy compilations (Anthology, Origins, FF6).yeah it had shovelware, but so does everyother successful console.
