You cannot save anywhere. You can only save at ''save points'' or when roaming around the map area.



It will work the same for an emulator, yes. An emulator has memory cards just like the playstation does. You can also select save slots on an emulator, allowing you to save whenever you like - so essentially, you CAN save whenever you like (but that could be viewed as cheating :P)
